About 99% of the time I have my son (just turned 6) with me, so long hunts are out of the question. Our normal morning is walk in when its just light enough to not need a flashlight and if we have not seen anything 8:30 is about as long as we stay. If we are seeing animals we have made it to 10 am.

Afternoons depend on where we are going and the weather/time of year. If its cold we will get in the stand by 3 pm (depending on the stand). If its warm and early in the season we may not get there until 4 pm. We always stay until dark, unless we shoot earlier.

I might get 5 -10 hunts per year by myself. On those I try to hunt as long as I can, but I normally have something to do so it rarely ends up being any longer than when my son is with me. We are blessed to live close to where we hunt so I get to go 1-2 weekday afternoons, and normally one morning and one afternoon per weekend throughout season.
