If you can do math, and have a haphazardly understanding of biology, vaccinations make sense

Vaccines are a blessing to humanity. Blaming an anomaly on them is like blaming oxygen for suffocation. Sometimes shit happens. Older couples have kids with downs syndrome. Life isn't perfect but don't look for innocent things to blame for your choices or life's irregularities.

Society has decided to save most of us at the cost of sacrificing some of us. it doesn't make it any less traumatizing to the few or their loved ones when their needs get outweighed by those of the many.

Well, let's stir it up.

Your kid's immune system is stronger than the other kids'.

Your kid has genes that are better at fighting certain infections, so you don't vaccinate him.

What is everyone else gonna do about it?

Pass laws/rules that prevent your kid from coming to the school my kid attends.

Happy home schooling.

What they do now is try to force you to get a blue card with your kid's immunizations listed on it to register them for school. If they don't go to school or get homeschooled you can go to jail for not having them edumacated.

kids these days get like 60 something doses by the time they start school. I think immunization is great but I also know they got the $ in their eyes and way over do it these days. my oldest son had a reaction to MMR and damn near died. he has coincidentally had chronic respiratory issues ever since.

I work in the health care industry and I do keep all of my shots up to date. Not only because it's mandatory but because I work on an ICU unit that sees infections and diseases that not many hospitals in the deep south sees.

I saw on the local news the other day that Minnesota has had more measles cases this year then the whole country had in 2016 !
I would think this should be a much bigger story.

The way autism is diagnosed changed several years ago so medical conditions that had other names are now called autism. That is the #1 reason in the rise in autism. My son is vaccinated and healthy (thank God!) but if he wasn't I'm sure I would be more sceptical. The fact is unvaccinated children have Autism at about the same rate as children that do get vaccines. I do feel it is the parents choice to make and live with.

Minnesota has a massive middle eastern/african immigrant population.

Also a very liberal, very white, "think they're smart" population.

Yeah, last time I was in the Minneapolis Airport, I didn't hear any English and while clean, looked like Mogadishu based on the populus.

The vaccine conversation is impossible to have. You either believe in stories or science. One side can never convince the other.

A lot of thoughts on this topic, but for the most part I do not like the idea of being told what I have to do with my children. My son has gotten his vaccinations, mostly because his pediatrician said he would not see him if he did not get them. So, I am not entirely against getting shots. That said, if I don't want to get shots or have my children get shots that should be my prerogative. I'm not a hippy or an anarchist, but I want to be left alone as much as possible.

I am truly very sorry to those effected adversely by vaccinations or by the lack of vaccinations... Strong feelings are certainly understood on both sides and I respect both sides.

You have any documentation for that? My son is 11, and isn't remotely near that number.

I think the state of Alabama requires 4 vaccinations for kids to start school....DTaP, Polio, Chickenpox, and MMR. Yes, some are required to be given in "courses", but nowhere near what you're suggesting.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

It has got to be close to 60, the vaccination schedule my son got on his first pediatrician visit was shocking.

Just pulled up the schedule and counted 39 shots from birth to school age, that is not including some that were recommended for "high risk groups".
