That is really neat. Instead of all the guessing, email those pictures to Moundville state park. It is a Indian village that has been turned into a park just south of Tuscaloosa. It is ran by the archeology department at the University of Alabama. They have archeologist that can tell you exactly what it is and what it was used for.
