Also, some mortgage companies require the insurance check be made out to them. They will disperse the funds as needed and send you any monies left over after repairs are completed and inspected. US Bank did this to me on my last house.

You can't buy a sq of architectural shingles for $70 a sq must be labor only
Mac...you may need to explain the difference between a square and sq ft. If they aren't familiar with roofing they may not know how to convert your square price to the actual roof size...

A Square is 100 square feet so 10ft x 10ft.

Sorry the $70/sq. was the shingles and $30/sq. installation but this was a straight house no dormers and a 4/12 pitch.

If possible, go with a metal roof. It will save you a ton on your power bill.

One last question. I know a square consists of 100 square feet and the actual square footage of a roof will be higher than the square footage of the house. I would say my roof is pretty steep and will have more squares because of that, but today I had someone give me a quote for replacement and he is quoting for 45 squares. My house is 1866 square feet. Do you think that sounds right? I was expecting it to be fewer. His cost per square is very reasonable but with 45 squares, it's higher than I expected.
