Yup, the Sultana is still the worst Maritime disaster in American History. (non-War death toll). I've excavated at Cahawba and the History there is fascinating. I strongly recommend folks visit the site and small but important museum there. I vaguely recall reading a book about that.
The left lane is for the the purpose of moving the flow of traffic forward regardless of the speed limit. If your impeding the flow of traffic get your ass in the right lane. It's really that simple...
