It's an extra $45-$70 a month. Or however much y'all pay. So what if they went through my/their phone. They would find I read aldeer and call my wife. To me it's worth not having another bill.

FWIW, mine is just an old flip phone so all they can get is calls and texts if they decide to check my phone.

Get the F out of the BATFE. The F is guaranteed by the US Constitution. Those other letters are not.

Some of y'all sure don't mind having your personal/civil liberties examined, picked into and available for The Man to see whenever they demand it.

"I have nothing to hide, search my car."

"I have nothing to hide, so if they knocked on my house they could look around."

"No big deal, search my phone."

"Stop me on the sidewalk and check my ID, no big deal."

I forwarded my work phone calls to my personal phone so I could just carry my personal phone. I'm not in sales and don't get very many calls to my work number anyway. Whenever I travel for work occasionally, I carry the work phone to check emails on the go. I decided against using the work phone only and getting rid of my personal phone. Nothing on your work phone is private.

Not really, IDOT. It's a mentality and attitude that creeps over time into more aspects of your life. Before long it's "Let's have more cameras on streets and check everyone and who cares if the Constitution gets fudged some?"

But, whatever.

I have both. I keep all my work and personal business separate.

If two is inconvenient, so be it. Rmart30's example may be unlikely but it is possible. All it takes is ONE screwup in the company to have everyone's stuff checked out. Plus, even if they say it can be used for personal its primary function is for work and they provided it and they have the final say on it.

Also, unless you absolutely have to answer customer or work calls after work hours then turn that thing off at 5 p.m. or closing time and be done. This belief that we should check in during vacations and be "on" or "available" anytime is a bunch of chit. Some jobs may necessitate it. Not all of them do, though, and society has gotten into this "gotta be plugged in checking in reporting in available all the time!" mentality. It's crazy. Work the hours and be done.

I've probably sold $20,000,000.00 worth of product after hours and while I was on vacation in the last 17 years. I'll leave mine on.

I keep mine separate. No body but me needs to know who I talk to and how long or during what hours.

That's different, all of those things are personal belongings. This phone isn't.

You have 2 choices.

1. You pay $70 a month for private phone
2. You use theirs for free, but it could be searched.

It would be roughly $45 per month which is no where near $70, I can use however much data I want and privacy.

I didn't know. Never had to pay for 1. I just know what I've heard other people say. I've heard every where from $40-$100. I just picked the middle.

I've had a company phone for 10 years. I guess I've saved $5,400.

Get your own phone. I have had the same number for probably close to 20 years now. Everyone I know or work for knows it. I don't even have a home phone for the last 6 or 8 years. Besides the privacy aspect, you are a young guy and this is your first real job. You probably won't be there long before moving on. Do you want all your contacts to lose touch because they only have your work number. What about when you are looking for your next job, do you want to list your work phone as a contact? Get a cheap straight talk plan and forget about it. I have people call me all the time that I haven't talked to in years but they can still reach me because I have my same number.

I've done it both ways and having one phone is easier in my opinion. I sell real estate and my phone blows up all day every day. I turn it off at 7:30 every night and my clients know that. There's not much that's going to happen after 7:30pm that can't wait until first thing the next morning. I always call people back and I still sometimes check my email before I go to bed and they can always reach me there. I might lose a few sales over it and I'm totally ok with that, family time is much more important...

I keep mine seperate. My work phone is provided by the municipality I work for and although I can use it for personal use, I choose not to for ethical reasons, being that it's tax payers money.

I have both. It help me unplug when I need to, and it's nice my company not having all of the access. Do you know of they use a MDM (Mobile Device Manager)? If they do, your company has access to all of the info, and can remote wipe it at anytime. This is regardless of your iCloud/apple id info.

Oh...They can also check you phone location with a MDM.

You're thinking to hard

No, he's not.

Don't have a company phone. Do have a home phone, and my company knows the number. As far as they know, I don't have a cell phone. I don't receive on-call pay (some in my company do), so if I have plans or I'm not home when I'm off, I don't feel subject to their "beck and call", although they've wanted to have me to believe otherwise on several occasions.
