I weathered the storms and got my #2 this morning. Not much in the spur department, but he does have 3 beards, about 18 inches worth total. I've got to catch a nap, but I'll update with the story and pics tonight at work. Good luck to anyone out in this mess. CD.

Here he is fellas. I knew where a couple toms had been using around a big field, so with rain in the forecast, I was almost positive they'd show up there today. Since I had to start night shift tonight, I only planned to go for a short while and if no bird was seen or heard early, I would just go home to nap up. By 7:30, with no turkeys seen or heard and the rain picking up, I decided to head to the house. About halfway across a huge field, I got to a spot where I could see around a little point of trees. There they were, about 300 yards out. Looked like 7 or 8 hens and a Tom. I just crouched down behind my decoy and gave them a minute to see what they were gonna do. When I peeked back over, they were all standing tall, looking my way. I thought the gig was up, then the Tom blew up into full strut. I just stayed low and eased up another 75 yards or so. He'd strut, walk about 10 yards closer, then strut again. He did this all the way to about 75 yards out, then he stopped strutting and walked directly down my gun barrel. He never gobbled, but when he got close, I could hear aggressive purrs. He was ready to fight.

It was a miserable morning followed by 10 minutes of intense excitement. I didn't notice he had multiple beards until I got home and started to clean him. CD.

Thanks buddy! Man I could have driven right up to him, but I always make myself carry em out. He was the heaviest bird I've killed by .02lbs.
