I had a yellow lab also named Sadie several years ago. She was truly a part of our family, just like my English Lab is now. So sorry Brandon.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

A dog can show so much love and emotion without ever speaking a word. Humans can learn a lot from them about selflessness and pure love. Probably the most noble and precious of the all creatures God gave to us.

Sorry for the loss. A person with no pets can't understand the strong attachment. A dog is always glad to see you unless they are sick and all of them have different behaviors that make them unique.

It hurts like hell to lose a dog that's part of the family. It hurts even more to see your kids crying about it and there's nothing you can do. Sorry for y'all's loss Brandon.

Man sorry to hear! Our dog smoke is nearing his last days also...

That's a tough one Brandon. Looks like she had as much fun with the kids as they did with her. I think we all could learn a little about loyalty from a dog.

Thanks guys. She was as loyal and friendly as the day was long. Obviously great with the kids and would let you use her for a pillow while laying down in the yard. . She was as fine of a dog as I can imagine there being. She never did much on the dove field or duck hole, but not because she couldn't. She was a fine retriever up through age 2 and then the kids made her the family pet and she spent many a night on the floor of a bedroom beside a bed, anxious to put a cold nose on you in the morning when it was time to wake up.
