Let's discuss seatbelts.
Both me and my missus and all of my extended family have the seatbelt habit. This all stems from an old film entitled "Room To Live" that I saw when I worked at the phone company years ago. It was just a simple one-camera film taken during a presentation by a Northern States State Trooper in the 80s and the wrecks he worked and the horrendous deaths he saw, some including children. After seeing it, it made such an impression on me that I got my family in the habit of never moving a vehicle without belts on.
That said, I ain't gonna preach to ANYONE that doesn't want to belt up outside my family.
Except this: If you ride in my vehicle though, it IS mandatory because I don't want your carcass landing on me or using my insurance money up in the event of a wreck because you didn't belt up. Or you can walk or drive your own wheels.
Anybody have any input or comments? Do you ordinarily use them?
This is NOT about the law MAKING you wear them, it's about if you CHOOSE to wear them.

I use it every time. It's a little deal to avoid a potential big deal

I choose to wear mine and it's now a habit that it goes on when I hop in the car. Still think it's dumb as hell to get a ticket for not wearing one.
If you’re a common sense person, you probably don’t feel you have a home in this world right now. If you’re a Christian, you know you were never meant to.

It becomes a habit and I don't feel right without one.
Personally, I don't care whether you wear one or not. It's you're life. What I do care about however, is my insurance rates being sky high to pay for your long term medical care that could have been easily avoided by buckling up. In my 30 years, I've seen many people maimed and killed that would not have had they buckled up. I've not seen one person, that is zero, that died from drowning because they drove in a pond or river and couldn't get their seat belt undone. I've not seen a single person, but I admit to hearing and seeing the pictures of two that died from burning up when they couldn't get out of a seat belt after a crash.
Around 50 or so dead from not buckling up vs. two because they were buckled. I like the odds better with a seat belt.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

My parents instilled in me the need for seat belts and I don't feel right driving without one. I will occasionally not wear it for a 1/4 mile trip to the corner store, but that's it. Ain't about a law making me wear one, it's just smart.
If your in a crash and can't get it unbuckled, you should also always carry a pocket knife.

The only ones I have heard of drowning had nothing to do with seatbelts, it was those Auburn students that couldn't get the tailgate down. BTW, The shifter doesn't get moved out of park until everyone's seatbelt has clicked in any of my family's vehicles.
