When I started this thread my thought was to just know how those deer are factored in to the herd. I believe most farmers do it the way they are supposed to and the crop damage is real in most places. I'm sure some misuse it, and I wish we had a way to know how much they do hurt the total population.

I use to think man I would love to have a bunch of big soybean fields around my hunting property. But after reading this it looks like big fields full of pine trees are better for the deer population.

If you're gonna be stupid you better be tough.

I understand the need for farmers to do this. Only thing that kills me around here (Florida) is they shoot deer all summer to keep deer out of the fields, but come hunting season they put feeders all around the field and corn the snot out of them.

i don't see how that part of it is legal

Well you know the government gives us the seed, fertilizer and equipment to farm.

When the dcnr issues crop damage permits is it public record? Can they be looked up online?
