laugh No, not at all, but the laws are pretty crazy. Especially in your area with a lot of days without a chance to kill does, even during season.

i had a buddy that kept deer legs in the freezer and would go to the ag fields on the property and the field of P's he had planted just down from his trailer window, and put tracks out there and snap off the crop to get depridation permits. Of course all his biggest racked bucks were killed legally, according to him.

Didn't know because I've never looked, but is part of the 'farmer depredation' deal that they are only supposed to shoot antlerless deer?

Oh yes. They gut shoot them so they don't fall in the fields too..... And if you asked some I know to hunt and thin them out they look at you like you ask to sleep with their wife..........
funny how that works, ain't it?

Supposed to be does only. I'd say most try and hold it to does only , but there are some think a deer is a deer and all must die.
We have some of both in Central Jackson Co.

To intentionally gut shoot an animal causing it to die a slow painful death is wrong.

Shoot him and drag him out the field if you are so concerned about your tires. The shed antlers are the bigger problem and you can't do anything about those.

No animal deserves a slow painful death. Deer or hog.
They are just doing what they do.
Kill them quick and move on.

The entire concept seems to be in direct conflict with Laws concerning Wanton Waste.

And, the practice of issuing Permits is not only in Violation of State Law, but also VERY loosely Regulated.

When I was in Greene Co I refused to issue summer crop shooting permits to any who did not make an effort to take out does IN DEER SEASON.

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

What was an acceptable effort?

I just asked if they made an effort to kill does IN season before asking me to allow them to kill does in the summer. Actually I don't remember issuing any crop damage permits in Greene Co at all. I had some ask, but no takers.

I WISH THEY would do away with the farmers getting summertime permits to kill deer. Most of the farmers around my hunting grpunds, Halfway farm anyway. They disk up the fields and run a planter though them, they don't put out the right amount of fertilzer, just enough to get there crop to grow . After the crop grows .They claim insurance on it saying there crop failed or the deer eat it up.Alot of the farmers are doing this. They get the permits to shoot the deer,so they can claim are destroying there crops. Then they get paid through the government for crop failure. One of the farmers around my hunting lease said he shot 23 deer last year. The permits are for antlerless deer anyway.23 deer Just across the fence line is alot of deer add that for year after year is nonsense. They need to do away with the farmer permits for deer because it's killing the deer population. If they want to controll the deer they should let people hunt the deer during hunting season,That way it would help feed famil8 with the deer meat .Insteed of letting the deer go to waist. Now hogs is another story they can destroy a farm in a few weeks.

And all that seed and fertilizer is so cheap. They have to haul their money around in Brinks trucks. Not to mention those cheap tractors and other equipment they have. I made so much I had to quit because I didn't have any more space to put all that money.
