Yes I have seen something like it. The first deer my son killed was a doe standing broadside in a green field at 150 yards. The deer dropped in her tracks. She kept flopping around so I shot her when we walked up to her. He shot it with a 243 and a Hornady Interlock and the bullet hit the shoulder, turned straight up and exited above the shoulder beside her spine on the side of the bullet impact. Bullet didn't break the shoulder and never penetrated the body cavity. Apparently there was enough shock to her spine to put her down but she probably would have eventually got up and run off if I hadn't shot her again.
