Thank you XVI !
Matthew 6:34 is one of my favorite verses, as I worried quite often in the past. Still do, and still quote God's Word of Matthew 6:34.

James,
Your concern about your family is a testament to your love, care, and concern for them. I commend you for that. The words to this old song came to me as I read your post. There's so much truth in its words:
What a friend we have in Jesus, All our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry Everything to God in prayer! Oh, what peace we often forfeit, Oh, what needless pain we bear, All because we do not carry Everything to God in prayer! Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged— Take it to the Lord in prayer. Can we find a friend so faithful, Who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness; Take it to the Lord in prayer. Are we weak and heavy-laden, Cumbered with a load of care? Precious Savior, still our refuge— Take it to the Lord in prayer. Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer! In His arms He’ll take and shield thee, Thou wilt find a solace there.

Matthew 6
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.
30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?
31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. I needed to read that this morning. x2
Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many!

What happened to Peter when he took his eyes off of Christ? He sank. We do the same thing. We get so distracted.....and sink.
Peace comes from Relationship with Christ Reliance on Christ Riveted to Christ.
Isaiah 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.

the only thing I worry about is when I do bad. I tell younger folks that if you always do the right thing, then you never have to worry. guilt is the worst kind of worry you can have. everything else is out of my control and I will accept it. you can never have happiness with worry. when I made a decision to start doing right, happiness shot through the roof. For example if I had to tell a lie at work to stay out of trouble I would rather accept the punishment and be happy than to worry. have you ever noticed how many killers turn themselves in so easily, when they know they are looking at life in prison. worry is real. I still smoke and that alone causes an amount of worry that I wish I didn't have.

I think part of the problem is that we're so connected now and therefore we see so much bad news every day. Wears on you.

Worrying about things already done is something I almost never do. The past is the past and cannot be changed. Regret is a waste of time and changes nothing. Don't get me wrong, apologize as quickly as possible if you've done someone wrong or otherwise do something to make amends. Try to keep all the excess baggage to a minimum.
