Direct's receiver technology is WAY behind Dish's. The Genie doesn't have squat on the Hopper3. Genie can record 4 or 5 shows at one time. The Hopper3 can record 16 (who would need to record that many at once, I don't know...but the capability is there). The Genie holds like 200 hours of HD programming. The Hopper3 holds 500 hours.

I swapped from Direct to Dish about 10 months ago, and haven't looked back. Same programming, with better equipment, for $40 less a month...and that price is guaranteed for 3 years.

At some point in the future, when I get tired of getting jacked around on price increases by Dish, I'll swap back to Direct. Hopefully, they will have caught up by then.
