It depends on how big of a fish you're wanting to catch and if you're catching them in calm water or a dam tail race. It's hard to beat an Abu Garcia Ambassadeur for big Striper. For catching big fish in swift water, I prefer a reel that will hold a lot of line. A big Striper can strip some line off of a reel in a hurry.

Curados are good. I've been using these concept reels. They have a good deal of drag but the spooles aren't very deep. I caught them on smith with an A-rig and a gunfish fished on a 7-11 shimano crucial and a diawa lexa 300h

That abu rocket I've got does the job. Don't know if you can get them anymore though You can buy the 6500 Pro Rockets through Catfish Connection. They run about $200.
