a lot say 165 is the 308 sweet spot. I am going to work with 150s for mine.

I really like the hornady sst bullets every deer ive shot, my brother has shot or my dad has shot with a 30-06 shooting a 180gr hornady sst has fallen down like you turned a switch off. I'm not a fan of the corelocks when we was younger me and my brother was my dads tracking dog/ deer dragger we had fun doing it when we was little like it was a game for us but after we got older in our 20s tracking his deer wasnt as fun then we started noticing he was making good but had bullet issuses with either the jackets coming off to not expanding correctly which in turn leaves a crappy blood trail amd a long time tracking. That was with his 35 rem. He fianlly switched over to hornady leverevolution and tracking for him has been more fun again and alot shorter. My plan was to use the same bullet for 308 and 30-06. Im shooting hornady superformance sst 180s oit of my 30-06 now and it really seems to like them better than the 150s. I'll sight the hog hunter in with some hornady white tail classic then try some other weighs and see what it likes then load some up play with it. It would be nice if both guns liked the same powder and the same bullet weight but rarely do the stars aline in such away

57.5grs of H4350 and a 165gr bullet of your choice will be an excellent start in your 30.06.

I like the 165. 150 shoots well but there is not that much ballistic difference at the distances I shoot, so I chose 165 for hunting.

110,125,130,150,165,168,175,180, and that's as far as I'd take a 308.

If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

in a .308, i ALWAYS start with 150-grain winchester power points. it is my baseline round. i've never had a .308 that wouldn't group winchester 150 PPs in 1.5 inches or less at 100 yards ...
