Let me hear your thoughts on the best way to keep hunting clothes relatively scent free. Part of my issue is that I have clothing for myself and 3 young boys. That includes jackets, warm weather pants, cold weather pants, t-shirts, long sleeve t shirts, pullovers, hats, gloves, etc…. Currently I am keeping all of this hung up in the laundry room but I feel this defeats the purpose of washing them in scent killer soap based on the close proximity to other clothes getting washed and dried in the perfume detergents(not to mention it drives my wife crazy). I’ve thought about building a cedar lined chest for the garage but I’m concerned the smell of gas, car exhaust, etc, will seep in.
Am I over thinking this? Should I just use the spray on field scent killer and hunt the wind? Do you feel these scent killer soaps/detergents are worth it, or is it just a way for the hunting vendors/companies to squeeze another dollar out of our pockets? My dad and his generation never used 90% of the products on the market today and still managed to kill plenty of deer. What say you? Thanks

get some large plastic tubs to keep them in.

They also make large vacuum seal storage bags that are reusable and take up far less space and most of them only require a standard vacuum to suck the air out.

I use a Tinks carbon bag and have for 10 years or so. It goes in wash and in dryer when clothes do. I put them on to hunt, take them off when hunt is over, they stay at the farm. Seems like it was about $30.00 at Academy. You could label them and get one for you and each of your kids to keep everyones stuff separate

The best thing i ever purchased was the Whitetail'R ScentPURGE 50. Get you a plastic tote and drill a small hole in the side for the power cable to run through and put the ozone killer inside. No scent at all on clothing.

I use a big plastic tote from Walmart and get some of the earth scent wafers and throw in the box and put the lid on until I get ready to hunt. It seems to work pretty good.

I have heard that will eat your elastic, ever had any trouble with that?

I have several plastic tubs. They work well for storing/stacking. You can usually find the Christmas colors on clearance at Wal Mart

This is the first year I have practiced "good scent control" and have had more success than ever. I was all clothes (even the undies ill be wearing that day) scent killer and bath in the scent killer soap and shampoo. Store all clothes in plastic tub like most other fellas here.

I prefer the Dead Down Wind brand more than anything else.

I've not had that issue at all.

I keep all my clothes in a scentlok tote with a carbon mat(never changed it) and it has a rubber gasket to seal air out.

I keep mine is a combination plastic totes and bags.

I use a tote and lots of baking soda. I am not hardcore on scent control but I do hunt the wind period. If the wind is even questionable i stay out of there. I have a few setups on cutover for pretty much any wind. If i cant get to the woods because of woods i hit that cutover. Use a handful of pine needles, in my tote as well. i am no expert on this matter though. Probably could stand to be a bit more careful with my hunting clothes.

I throw mine in the back seat of my truck. You are going to stink to a deer anyway.

Big plastic tote with a piece of fresh pine branch in it. Change out the pine once a month or so, smells like pine every time I open it.

This right here. I quit worrying so much about it and still see deer and enjoy not sweating it.

Air dry all hunting clothes. Bring them in and straight to the plastic tub they go.
