Bird invest in some Curado's. Pure pleasure. I've owned lots of reels. never any as expensive as Calcutta'. I have never owned any brand I loved more or gave less problems than Castaiacs or Curados.

They are basically a silstar/pinnacle reel as most cookie cutter chain store reels are. Not to bad but not to great either. What are the best reels out there for the money, that you've seen/worked on?

Take your high dollar reels and when they break chunk them. I FISH two day's a week and have fished these reels for 8 years and have yet to wear one out, when I do I will chunk it in river at less cost. Meet me and I will have a bait casting contest with these cheep reels against the high dollar and you may out cast me but no more than 5 feet, I have few friends that think if it does not cost 200.00 or more you can't fish, all I was saying there on sale and for the money you cannot beat them How many of them do you have? I have seen some $50 reels last a long time I have just never seen them do it consistently. I have one $75 revo that is 6 or so yrs old and still going strong but the other 4 I had blew up. I am rough on equipment though, lots of braid, no drag, lots of rough rides.

The sale price isn't bad at all. If your looking for throw away reels you can't beat them but if you ever need parts its very hit and miss finding them. A Shimano last forever and if something is needed I can have it the next day. I'm still using shimanos I bought in 1984 As far as the casting competition I'll take that challenge any day. The Antares are ready when you are. Now take a deep breath and relax. Nobody was knocking your reels.
