How many answer Sheldon Cooper?
Would they get extra credit for killing both birds with one stone?
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Like I tell my students...Bill Nye is not a real scientist, and Sheldon Cooper is just an overpaid actor from Hollywierd.
Damnit goobers, I thought Aldeer can fix things, don't let me down. How do we get folks to recognize real scientists instead of tv people these days?

And of course Bill Nye, the science guy One summer, back in the dark ages, I decided to stay in Auburn and take some summer classes. In order to have a full course load I needed one more elective. A friend suggested Astronomy so I signed up. The professor was a funny little Chinese guy that spoke broken English. He fussed about them making him teach the class. He said "I'm astrophysisist, not astronomer. Since I no know astronomy, we have no tests. We look through telescope one night a week. We do simple project for grade." He was true to his word. The project was simple, I made most of the telescope viewings and got an A. That elective was almost as good as Mate Selection, which turned out to be Sex Ed for college students.

Ol Neal deGrasse Tyson started getting a following there for a while. I think part of the problem is the "rock star" scientist aren't sometimes as appreciated or known in circle past the academic world or till they pass.

How do we get folks to recognize real scientists instead of tv people these days? Start in schools by praising the academic achievers instead of putting athletes, cheerleaders and 'stars' on pedestals. Listen to diverse viewpoints and consider them instead of outright disdain and ridicule for opposing views. Read more, stop watching TV. Stop nitpicking every "that's false, he ain't like me!" viewpoint of scientists or "they're just in it for money" when researchers have a discovery. Never will happen, though. Society as a whole is too vapid and shallow want to do these things and recognize real intelligence instead of fake schitt in entertainment. Richard Myers Noam Chomsky Craig Venter
