The city is giving me a load of crap. The city found a mistake on our business license and is asking us to reapply as the address is incorrect. I said sure can we just change the info? They say we will have to reapply. Then the guy says1 they are not going to give us a new license for our current location. Stating we are an industrial business and are not allowed to operate at our current location and have 10 days to move. We have been in the same place for 3 years the city inspected the property with the zoning inspector and building inspector when we moved in. They accept my sales tax payments monthly. Then the guy tells me it's because a tenant has complained because our trucks parked in a giant lot where the landlord gave us permission to park. Said they had already had a meeting about it and all. Long story short I am fixing to have some fun with Madison.

Ben, you need an attorney, right now.

They never cost what they are worth.

Call your local Senator right now. Forget about an attorney. You already have one. Forget ambulance chasers.

I don't enter the city limits of Madison unless I absolutely, positively, ain't no way around it, have to.

The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

Having watched Madison grow and change in the last 35-40 years, it has gone from a small town rife with a "y'all stay the hell out, we run things how we want" attitude to a sprawling boxed-in town with a "y'all stay the hell out, we run things how we want" attitude.

I recall them doing someone wrong back in the 80's when they were exploding with new growth. Went back on a promise made to a developer.

When I bought a house, I specifically told the realtor don't show me anything inside the Madison city limits. Reminds me too much of Frisco, TX.

New info looks like some of our competition (think movers and you will know who) rented a few parking spots and parked their trucks in a shopping center complex to advertise without leasing a building. They were told they could not do that so they went to the Mayor and complained about where we park our trucks. To force us to move our trucks the city decided there were errors on our business license. We went to the city and requested our original license application. Turns out any mistakes on our license were the fault of the city so now they say our license is valid and they apologize for sending us certified letters. However they want to meet to discuss the zoning of our business as they keep saying we are a freight company (which we are not) they say we may still have to move do to zoning even though their zoning inspector and fire Marshall signed off on everything pertinent at the time of leasing. Should be interesting. My phone call to the guy who complained to the mayor has not been returned to date.

If they raise too much of a stink wanting you to move, tell them you will just move to another town.
