I'd love to read that but it takes too long to load the page with all the dang advertising. Life's just too darn short for that crap.

Health Reform: After promising Americans that ObamaCare wouldn't increase premiums, the Obama administration is now saying that huge premium hikes are nothing to worry about. Tell that to the millions who are learning that the "Affordable Care Act" is a cruel joke.

The official findings show that the average premium hike for the so-called benchmark silver-level plan across the country is a stunning 25%. It also shows that six states have only one carrier left in their individual markets.

Keep in mind that Obama specifically promised that double-digit premium increases would be a thing of the past once ObamaCare was enacted.

But having acknowledged that premiums are skyrocketing, the administration then tries to put a happy face on it.

Why Obama Is Wrong About ObamaCare, In One Chart

Since 87% of people who buy in the exchanges get subsidies, the administration says, these sharp increases are immaterial.

"Tax credits," says the Health and Human Services Department, "increase dollar-for-dollar with the cost of a consumer's benchmark plan, so they protect the large majority of consumers from rate increases." In other words, the higher the premium, the bigger the subsidy.

The HHS goes on to actually boast that the huge premium hikes are a good thing because they can have the effect of lowering premium costs for consumers and can make more people eligible for the tax credits.

No, we are not kidding.

The HHS report says that "some consumers in areas that had low benchmark premiums in 2016 may be newly eligible for tax credits in 2017." It also says that 2.5 million consumers who bought ObamaCare plans off the exchanges "could be eligible for tax credits."

A table in the report shows how a 27-year old woman stands to benefit from the higher premiums. Her net premium cost could drop anywhere from $1 to $4 a month.

What the HHS isn't saying, however, is that there are about a million people who bought coverage through an ObamaCare exchange who aren't eligible for any subsidies. And there are roughly 9 million who bought individual plans outside the exchanges because they didn't qualify for subsidies.

That means that half of those who bought an individual insurance policy this year will face the full costs of these premium hikes when they go to renew for next year. And in many states, the increase is much higher than the 25% average cited by the HHS. We'd like to see the White House try to convince these people that ObamaCare is a bargain.

When not trying to minimize the importance of these rate hikes, the Obama administration has been trying to blame Republican governors for sabotaging ObamaCare — by among other things refusing to expand Medicaid — and causing these premium hikes.

But there's no evidence to back this up. In fact, the average increase in Obama's home of Illinois, for example, is 43%, in Minnesota it's 59%, in Pennsylvania, 53%, in New Mexico, 29%, and in Hawaii, 35%.

In eight states at least — three of them fully supportive of ObamaCare — state insurance regulators approved rate hikes that were higher than the insurers themselves had requested, so as to protect their markets from collapse — Arizona, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Minnesota and Utah.

The administration's blithe reassurances about the ObamaCare subsidies overlook another group harmed by these massive rate hikes: taxpayers. It is taxpayers, after all, who will have to pay the cost of these bigger subsidies.

Obama is desperate to protect his ObamaCare legacy. So desperate that he will say anything.

Trump says he will repeal and replace. This concerns me. We should repeal and go back to the way it was.

The way it was, was a hell of a lot better than this ! At least
people could afford the plans the choose ! He also said he would make a better plan. It wouldn't be hard to make anything better than this !
This is so expensive families can't afford it yet you still get fined for not having it !

How do you spell dumb_ss? "oh it's okay that the cost has doubled. You'll just get a bigger subsidy to cover the increase." Who pays for that? Sooner or later the tit will run dry and when it does, the glass house crashes to the ground. The fact that people in government actually think this way proves that they know nothing at all about business, managing costs or managing money. I think Trump is a crappy candidate but I'll guarantee you that he understands this math. That's why I am voting for him.

Here is why they are happy:
~90% of the people are being subsidized

That means that they will tax you, and me more to cover it. More $ coming into the gov = easier to hide side deals and pork.

True story. The real power of the government lies within it's ability to tax us literally at the point of a gun, and to grant their own credit limit, which NEVER goes down. We haven't helped it much, but we had some real freakin' geniuses on both sides of the isle that were laser-focused on the "4 years" they were in and screwed all of us down the road. We're letting them do the same thing to our children, grand children, and great-grand-children. OUR fault.

Over the past 10 yrs, my family plan has gone from 420/month to 1300/month and we are relatively young and healthy. That's a nice house payment!

This is a great reason why the folks that say they won't vote TRUMP are clearly fools. They can't see that Trump is the only hope we have for reversing OBAMACARE. He may not be perfect, but he is what we have and our only chance.

The way I figure, they printed about 700 billion dollars in '08. Now they have found a way to get it back to slow down inflation.
