Every persons personal preference, none of my business who shoots a crossbow, we as legal hunters need to stick together, you shoot what you want and Ill shoot what I want, looks like we could end this debate one of these days.

You should probably just go ahead and give YOUR answer to your question, since the answers you've been given in 3 pages don't fit your idea of what the answer should be. You're obviously fishing for something specific.

Yeah, um, I've done that like three times in this thread already. But like I said, nobody was even comprehending their reading, they just couldn't wait to pile on with their version of "live and let live" and other philosophical gobbly gook.

Actually, I haven't seen you give an answer to "why do you use a crossbow?". I've seen you state why you don't think people should use a crossbow, and I've seen you give reasons why you think your way is better than using a crossbow, but I've yet to see you answer your own question of "why do you use a crossbow?".

Ok. I'll stick with my original answer then...because it's legal, and they want to.

I don't have the opportunity to practice with a compound like I should to make a confident shot on one.

A crossbow is rather clunky compared to a gun.
Wielding it around in the stand is pretty tough when the deer is in range, you can be easily busted.

The deer has to basically be in the same range as a compound.
That is really the tough part. I've had to pass on a few animals because they weren't quite in range.

A crossbow is loud when you shoot it, so aiming for the mid is a no no because the deer is basically guaranteed to jump the string.
And, it's not like your arrow is coming out slower than a bolt.

You have to worry about all the moving parts horizontally rather than vertically.
Plus, worrying about your thumb location on the rail.

Other than practice to ensure a shot, all you do is stand draw and shoot.

Crossbow hunters have several things running through their mind when on the hunt.
So it seems to me like crossbow hunting may be tougher than compound bow hunting.

I am also not sure I would say that the skillset is the same for a compound and traditional.
There is that aiming thing that is a bit different.
Traditional guys get much respect.

Naw, I'm calling you a dick because you turned my question about crossbows vs vertical bows into a personal jab at me. If you want to start a general forum thread about ikillbux, then it's fair game. But unless you have a practical answer related to crossbows, I'm not interested in your philosophical retort about what you assumed I meant.

Now that's a legit answer. ^^^This is how you behave on a public forum, not like frat boys having a one-up party.

Got one last year.

I do like the fact I haven't wounded a deer since using it.

I use it cause it's easier for me to be more proficient with it with less practuce.
