Good call. I made a shot too far back on a doe opening of TN season, I watched her run and lay down but I didn't fee like it was a good kill shot so I waited an hour and finally saw her kick and not move again. Earlier on when I first started hunting I probably would have pushed that deer by looking right away for blood. If you think you hit him back, your doing the right thing. Good luck!

Buck was quartering away, did not get a pass through. He ran about 30 yards and stopped. Hunched up, stood there 15 minutes, then walked about 10 yards into the woods and layer down Im pretty sure. I aimed back with him quartering away, hit even a little further back than I hoped. 30 yard shot which is my max comfortable range. I know I gut shot him, didn't want to push it and not find him at all. Taking my chances with yotes

Oh and congrats on the buck!!! Thank you! His headgear is nothing special but I believe this deer is 8+ yrs old which makes him a trophy in my book.
