Have any of you guys had success during the middle of the day? Generally between 10am-3pm. As a firefighter I will be leaving work at 7-8 am and would like to go straight to the woods and hunt until mid afternoon or all day.

Hunt mid day after a big moon, dropping temps or changing weather (before rain)

Sure, very good time of day to hunt. I simply can't do it when it's this hot.

We change shifts at 7 here and I leave work and go straight to the woods a lot during gun season and hunt mid day killed several deer between 10-11. Also when it's extremely cold 20s or so overnight I normally go in the woods between 7-8. I haven't hunted midday during bow season mainly because it's so hot so can't really offer any advice there.

Yea it has been too warm but Friday looks to be a bit cooler. I was hoping to get out in the woods by 10 and hunt until 3.

I've killed two good ones in the middle of the day. Both kills were in high-pressure areas. The 12:00pm buck popped out in a clover field for a quick lunch. The 1:15pm buck was cruising through timber.

I've killed a very nice one around noon.

If you can get high and see down in a thicket where they bed, they will often get up and move around inside the thicket in the middle of the day.

My philosophy is hunt when you can, because you never know.

Many a time, I have climbed up into the stand in the early morning darkness and climbed down under the evening cover of darkness. Deer can and do move at any hour of the day. Sometimes deer move when I think they shouldn't and don't move when I think they should. I've seen bucks being chased by someone's pet in the middle of the day. Sometimes they pattern humans and will go to food plots midday, or just stroll through the woods.

The best time to kill a deer is when you are out there and hunting.

You can at my house, if you open the window. Probably not with a bow, though.
