It isn't not a poor analogy. It is exactly the situation. He is the Director for a reason. If he does a poor job, he'll be fired.
Where is the politics in game check? Y'all are full of chit. It is 2016. Finally Alabama is making a move in the right direction. Data is the first step. Or I suppose we could continue the riding the pendulum and never has long term success. The point some folks, including me, are trying to make is that the data can be collected more easily without inconveniencing every hunter in the state using valid statistical methods. How are you not seeing this? Billion dollar decisions are made using such methods. Every hunter is part of the management of the herd. I don't care if they feel inconvenienced. If you don't want to be part of the solution don't pull the trigger.

i agree with the fact that there will be more data but I can see a few of the good for nothins here and there lying about their harvest to prevent a possible restriction down the road. im also sure there will be plenty of the back woods boys that dont use a processor and keeps to themselves that wont fool with it.

Well i was raised where you had to drive miles to check in a deer at a local store/ checking station. Pushing a few buttons on a phone is a helluva lot easier. Inconvenience? BS. To easy.

If you want to see the effects of governmental use of statistical data, take a look at red snapper regulations in the Gulf of Mexico............. You can't argue with this. especially in our gulf waters. When this first came up a few years ago I admit I was all for it based on what I was told by DCNR folks and not what I was reading on here. But after it being implemented the way it was plus the ridiculous February season in North Alabama it's obvious to me that it's not for the betterment of the herd but for financial reasons. One size don't fit all in this state.

There are several comments here indicative some believe people on the CAB are going to make money because of this. How are Chucky and his minions going to get rich off of hunters using a phone app? Take a look at who has served on the CAB the past few years and tell me why legalizing feeding might be profitable.

I'm tentatively for it. If people are going to be making decisions that I HAVE to abide by - or am penalized through the court system - then I want the best data available for the decision. The analogy I use is, every single club in the state recognizes the value in recording kills on their land, and hardly any clubs have enough land to truly control a portion of the herd. Yet, the State controls the biggest herd of all, and we expect them to create laws based on poor data? We have a very geographically diverse, deer population diverse, state. I can see where good data is needed to enable them to fit regulations to match more localized regions.
I just hope it's not abused. Something like this system is pretty much inevitable, so I'll support it until I see evidence otherwise. I want a good deer herd to be in place for my son when he grows up.

I'd be all for it if they demonstrated to me that there is a problem with our deer herd that needs to be fixed. I'm a believer in The Law of Unintended Consequences. Any time a law or regulation is passed it will have consequences that were not anticipated, therefore, unless there is a clear need for the law or regulation, it is wiser not to pass it, or pass it in a limited basis until the unintended consequences are apparent so they can be minimized.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I personally don't have any issue with reporting my deer to game check. I just don't see the big deal. We are living in a new era, things just ain't the way it used to be. Granted, if I was a sho nuff hillbilly that had no taxable job and the deer I killed was a mandatory necessity to feed my family, I would tell the DCNR to fugg off but it's not.
You guys that bash the idea of reporting your harvest, what are your views on this (because it is regulated by the government and I'm sure down the line, by politics)
You BUY a vehicle, you pay your state/federal taxes (to drive on public roads) like a good little U.S. Citizen, do you think you should be able to get chit faced hammered and get behind the wheel and drive 40mph over the speed limit? No, I hope not.
Basically what I'm getting at is, do y'all have this much backlash with non-hunting related laws/regulations as much as you do checking a deer you killed into gamecheck?
There is 2 different high fence. 1 small and one big! Mine was free range in the big pen and was not a breeder buck. Why does it have to be twisted around??

If it is broke, fix it. If it ain't broke, leave it alone!
But you need a reliable process to see if it's broke.

But you need a reliable process to see if it's broke. I think you're driving too many miles and affecting the roads adversely. We'll need you to log your miles daily from here on out. Just to see if there's a problem. We're not aware of any problems yet, but we can't be certain. After all, roads are a public resource and we need to manage them well. I'm sure you'll understand, being a good citizen and all. Thank you for your data.

I do until I see that there is a problem that needs to be fixed. I see where you are coming from. There will just be too many sides/arguments with this for any large number of folks to have the same opinion. As a side note, I am NOT for more government regulation.
