I'm taking Archer for his first competition. Even though I feel like he can pass a seasoned test. We are just getting our feet wet and competing in the started. Is anybody else going? Any advice for a first timer at a HRC test?

Just have fun. I've been doing it a lot of years and really enjoy good times with good folks. That's some really nice grounds. I ran a couple of finished test last June there.

Most of all enjoy it. I've ran quite a few finished test out there and grew up a few miles from those grounds.

I remember my first hunt test in seasoned. Just enjoy the experience. Remember, dogs will be dogs. If you are running at a seasoned level you should be fine!

I won't be running at this one but may swing by to watch a few dogs.

I'll be there. Not participating, just going to spectate and meet good trainers and try to learn a few things. I may bring my 11 week old pup so she can be around some other dogs.

Not that yall have been worried, but Archer passed started. Needed some encouragement to pick up mallards but did great. Thanks for the interest. Surprisingly he was the only Border Collie there.

Training these dogs to hunt is very rewarding no matter what you are using them for. From what I've read border collies are supposedly the smartest dogs after any breed. Happy for you man

Congrats on the pass!
Shoot I've ran that Midsouth Boykin club test where I felt like I was the only lab. Lol. I can say of the 20 or so events I've participated in,ive never seen a border collie. I have seen a few fru-fru upity poodles tho.
