If a deer is that close and you are in a tree stand...is it still an ethical shot shooting straight on top of them? Serious question.
If you're capable of making that shot, it's very ethical. I killed a 12 pt several years ago at 2 steps from my tree. I shot it in the spine between the shoulder blades. I've killed several other bucks at less than 10 yards.
