Yep, they're here. Officially known as bois d'arc, but also called Osage orange, bodock, chainsaw smashers, trees from hell, $#**($#( and probably a few other colloquial names, too.
Couple of weeks ago in Illinois a guy with our group had one of the green seed balls and planned to take it home. Said he was told he could soak it until it broke up into a slurry, then pour the seeds into a trench to create a "fence" of trees.
I asked if he really wanted to do that since they're invasive. He didn't mind. His land, his chainsaws.
I hope he was a young man if he is hoping to see his new fence.
