I typically run mine at night expecting it to be the coldest time. You also have to pay attention to prolonged freezing periods, which aren't common. If it's going to get below freezing and stay there for several days, I will run my pump to keep the water from freezing. I have had better luck maintaining the pool water keeping it open all year. For yall that leave it running year round, how long a day do you run your pumps?

This is what I do. just maintain the Ph and run and cover the equipment with a blanket it when is below 35*. but, you only need to run your pump long enough to turn the water 1x per 24 hrs at a minimum.
