I use Trimble with offline maps if I don't have decent service and the GPS on my phone and mark a stupid amount of stuff on there and this works pretty well. I know where I am and not lost in the wilderness. It works pretty good for marking POIs.
However for navigation over a large area it isn't as good as a Garmin can be. I use a Garmin out west. IMO don't really need that around here.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.
