Put a splash of ammonia in each garbage bag before putting it out in the morning. We never used cans when I was growing up... just bags on the street. When a dog gets a punch in the nose from the ammonia, he won't come back to your garbage. I'm going to have to try that. I used to drag mine up to the road on my way out to work on Friday mornings. Then the truck started coming before I left for work. We complained and they said that it needs to be at the road by 6am. So we start putting it at the road on Thursday nights...and the dogs get in it. And for the past month the garbage truck will run anywhere from 5:30am on Friday to Tuesday afternoon. Pisses me off to no end.
Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death! - Patrick Henry
