I would be there opening day of bow season. Don't wait until the rut, at that point you don't know where he will be, maybe even dead.

That's cool. Killed my only drop tine 4 years ago. Never had him on camera and probably the reason I killed him because if I knew he was there I would have messed it up somehow.

I'd try to kill him in bow season if conditions are right. Drop tines are easy for them to break off once they lose velvet and start sparing. Very few make it though without some sort of damage once they start serious fighting leading up to the rut.

I've had the opportunity to hunt three drop tine bucks. One of them had double drops. I killed him in rut and they were both broken off from fighting. Another one was a total beast with a drop, kickers, and everything. He was on public land too. By the end of rut the drop was broken off, along with several other tines. The other deer got killed later in the rut and he also had broken his. They generally don't make it through the season.
