We have a set of Chicago Cutlery. They hold an edge real well. Reasonably priced. If you have a Tuesday Morning store in your area, go by there and get what knives you need at discounted prices. Yes they have name brand stuff there too.

I came, I saw, so I killed them all......Vern

Crap.

I can't get there until Thursday afternoon, earliest.

MAC but they were a gift - I would never spend that kind of money on knives. I also have a very heavy no name cleaver from Mr. Chens.

Wusthof or J.A. Hinkles you can't go wrong with either one and you can find a set of them for under $200 on sale if you look hard enough..

Bought a set of Wustof Grand Prix 20 years ago; it's a buy once investment.

Wustof Classic Ikon

I like my set a lot. Take care of them and they will last forever.

- don't put in dishwasher
- don't cut on granite, use cutting board
- clean and dry after use
- sharpen occasionally

I have the J.A. Henckels 12pc Pro set and they are by far the best knives I have ever owned. Pricey but they hold an edge and are easy to keep sharp.
