Capital Oyster Bar. Great atmosphere. Central is one of the new downtown restaurants. It's good but pricy. Is this on you or company dollar? I've never been to C.O.B at night, I'm sure it's great. We typically go on weekends for lunch. Another good suggestion

The family's favorite is Lek's Taste of Thailand. Either is fine but we prefer the one on Atlanta Highway. ^^^^^^^

Mediterranean Sandwich Shop! You won't be disappointed. Where? What? I feel pretty well versed on Montgomery eating, and I've never heard of that Damn, I thought he was coming to Mobile.. Nevermind....
Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.
My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

The family's favorite is Lek's Taste of Thailand. Either is fine but we prefer the one on Atlanta Highway. Damn good suggestion if you like Thai. Montgomery is Thai rich with Leks, Ala Thai, and Green Papaya Yep! Sam's BBQ on Atlanta Highway is awesome! I recommend the combo plate. Tipping point out east is good for casual light meals and plenty of IPA beers. Big screen for sports if you're into that. "The Pub" on Chantilly is really, really good for dinner too. It's not fancy, just good. They have a split tenderloin that is out of this world. Holla at me and maybe we can meet up for lunch or supper. Dr. B

CAPITOL OYSTER BAR IS WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY OVERRATED. JBC and others must be kids. Capitol Oyster Bar was great on the Southern Blvd but it has a different owner at the Marina.
Fricken Raw Oysters are $19 a Dozen. Oyster bar is a yuppie trap for pretenders. Just run down federal drive till before the river bridge towards Wetumpka to AW SHUCKS prices are one half the oyster bar and food is as good or better. Great wings also.
VICKEYS LUNCH VAN makes about as good of an old fashioned hamburger as you can get. Its about five minutes from the conservation dept off federal drive also. About a mile from the Atlanta Hwy.
Finally please tell me how and when Montgomery became the GUMP. Born and raised here for 51 years and never heard of GUMP till a year ago when young nephew said the same. crap Tuscaloosa being the gump makes sense with Forrest but I have no idea the Montgomery analogy????

Lewis owns COB and always has. He moved it off of the Southern Blvd because it was a crappy location and people didn't want to go there with the chance of being murdered. I used to go to the old location a lot, it was about 1/4 mile from my house. The Marina became available and he moved there. Great atmosphere, great music, not sure what there is to not like about the new location. 2. I've heard Montgomery called the gump as long as I can remember. Not sure where you've been. 3. Aw Shucks is good too. So is Young Barn Pub and Oyster Bar. 4. Google "Lunch in the Gump", they have a facebook group and now a segment in the Advertiser, pretty good write-ups about restaurants all over town.

JBC I ate at oyster bar on April the 9th a family came up to me and introduced themselves as the new owners. Dude, I know about as much about Montgomery as a human can.. NEVER HEARD OF GUMP EVER???
oh and My Lord $19 a dozen for oysters. That has to be the most expensive raw oysters in the south. I guess I'm use to Thursday at Igors when Oyster were a dime a piece. THERE IS SOMETHING UNAMERICAN AT OYSTERS COSTING NEARLY 20 BUCKS A DOZEN.

JBC I ate at oyster bar on April the 9th a family came up to me and introduced themselves as the new owners. Dude, I know about as much about Montgomery as a human can.. NEVER HEARD OF GUMP EVER??? one of the main radio stations is called "104.9 The Gump". The Wikipedia page lists the City as "The Cradle of Confederacy" and "The Gump". As I pointed out, the Montgomery Advertiser has food article called "Lunch in the Gump" Don't know what to tell you, but Lewis Mashburn owns COB, and has since 1996. I'll go eat there for lunch and take a picture with him if youd like. Its about 2 minutes from where I'm sitting at my desk. Here is a good article about why he shut down the old location. http://blog.al.com/montgomery/2010/10/capitol_oyster_bar_owner_i_fee.htmland here is a good one about the grand opening of the new one in 2011. http://blog.al.com/montgomery/2011/08/capitol_oyster_bar_gears_up_fo.html

Southbama I did spend some unproductive college years bartending in Five Points, living on Valley Avenue... Heck yeah! Right down the road from where I lived this past year. Not sure where I'm going to live this upcoming year, I'm in TN for an internship this summer so I let my lease go.

Honest to God you referenced WIKI as source? That's funny. Go to lunch and ask Lewis why he had a family there introducing themselves as the new owners who had bought him out.
and about a year ago my Nephew was listening to the GUMP and that was where the conversation started about the GUMP? So your saying if I open a radio station and then source it on wiki I can give a town a nickname. Now Monkeytown I have heard of.
