I know a family staying there tonight. They've said on Facebook that they've been hearing choppers flying all night with spotlights, searchers on the ground, in boats, etc. Terrible situation.

It is/was inevitable.
I honestly have NO idea why they are protected and treated like a Game animal. They are a damn DANGEROUS nuisance!!!

Been to the Grand Floridian several times and never saw a gator and I was watching every time we went overhead in the monorail. Although I never saw them, it sure looks like a good place for them.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

News this morning said that the child was playing in the water. I have been to several different places for vacation in Florida, and I recall the one place where there was a gator in a pond on the property. There were signs in the lobby, in the rooms, posted on the property... all over the place!
It's sad that a child lost his life, but the parents are as much to blame as anybody.

not to point fingers, but "The boy was attacked by the alligator at Seven Seas Lagoon at about 9:16 p.m. while he and his family were lounging next to the water" Doesn't sound like a good plan or good parenting. I wonder if there are signs up warning of the possibility of gators. Its been years since I've stayed at Grand Floridian. Don't ever remember lounging by the lagoon 9:16pm EASTERN! I might add. It would be very dark at that time. No matter the circumstances, still very sad.
