So, you are saying that you have a different type of permit than others??

Don't know. I haven't seen the others. I just know what I am required to do. I hope they are requiring everyone to provide the data. It would be great information. But, I don't know that they do.

Are you charged for the Permit?
Why would they want info from a Commercial Operation and spend the time to analyze, store and track it for free?

I am not aware of anyone that is charged for a depredation permit.

Well, I won't pretend to know all of the uses, but I would guess I can list a few:

Location of hog populations across Alabama by county
Methods employed in the reduction
Sex of pigs removed
Number of pigs removed

But......ONLY from Commercial Operations?
I have seen, and been on, many such permits.
None of them required the info that you say your's does.
I am simply wondering why.
And, why they would put the extra work into it for 'free'......

Don,

I really don't care. I am simply tired of pulling the pins on all the grenades you are and Danny are throwing at me and throwing them back. LOL

Danny,

How many square miles do you think make up the "dog head" at Woods Bluff? How many pigs do you think are in that area?

I know the entire county does not hold as strong a population as that area does. But, in 2013 when we hunted it from Mid Mar to late Sept and killed 209 hogs (no fetuses included Don, LOL) it had a lot of hogs on it.

There was a monster flood that year in Feb and I have no doubt it killed a lot of very young pigs that just couldn't make the 2 mile swim against the currents and lots of obstacles.

I am guessing it is about 3 square miles. And I am no way saying we killed them all. But, if 3 is a good guess, that is about 70 hogs per square mile not taking into account the ones that drown.

At certain times of the year, I would not hesitate to say that the density in that area is 70 per sq mi.
We caught 11 this morning in Wikcox County and I doubt we hunted 2 sq miles.

Danny,

What if we tried to come up with an estimate using the ecological regions of the state?

https://www.environment.fhwa.dot.go...ages/vegmgmt_ecoregional_approach_AL.png

What would you use as estimates for each region?

Honestly, I only feel comfortable with stating my opinion on the area that I frequent here in SW AL.

I have gone to a lot of other places outside of my home turf. But, honestly, most were either crap shoots, OR a high density, but localized, population.
