103.90 man hours per hog, Is that about normal for TRAPPERS????

Oh Don, you must have slept through math class. LOL

You do realize I don't have to stay with the trap don't you?

It takes me about 2.5 hours to set up a trap. Maybe 2 hours to remove pigs (travel time). I think I caught those 63 pigs in 4 catches. So that would be about 13 man hours or about 12 minutes a pig.

No, I did very well in math, The Traps was "Hunting" 24/7, I really don't think you'd catch many if you had the door closed..

I guess if your going to calculate man hours like that it would take you 100th of second man hours to kill a deer smile

"Hunting" and "Man Hours" are two totally different things.

Let me try your logic on your hog catches last year.

365 days and you caught 252 pigs I think it was. That means you caught a pig every 34.76 hours. Damn, them dogs must be slow.

You must be a ,.., I don't count the time my dogs are in the pen, Only when they're in the woods...
Same as your traps, don't count 24/7 just when they are SET, gate up, ready to catch..

You know, Barry......
You really flatter yourself. You butter me up, get contacts in the area, come down and start operating your business, and then try to turn this into a 'Us against Them' thing; all the while trying to play the part of the victiim.
The Truth is; other than early persuasion and Regulation changes, you and others like yourself 'in the business' have had zero impact on my actual hunting nor have I noticed any abnormal population change in the hogs.

Most people do not go to do a job with just one tool in their toolbox.
And that is exactly how this should work as well.

Danny,

No matter how hard you try and make me the villain, I am not.

I agree, you did tell me to contact a few folks. I can't remember but maybe one that panned out. And I am not even sure if you told me about him before I got that reference first. But, either way, maybe one. So, don't go and get all high and helpful on me.

I do agree it takes many tricks. That is why I trap, day hunt, night hunt, and yes occasional dog hunt.

And believe it or not, I have told SEVERAL landowners to contact you for dog services. Whether they did or not, I have no idea.

"The Truth is; other than early persuasion and Regulation changes, you and others like yourself 'in the business' have had zero impact on my actual hunting nor have I noticed any abnormal population change in the hogs. " Then why are you on my butt like a dirty diaper all the time??????????

Look, I have told you SEVERAL times now, I am done arguing. I don't even know why I responded to your BS questions on your post. You 'know it all' and did not want any opposing views. SO, you should have just made blanket statements, not questions! And, they all have an agenda......such as allowing you to slam dog hunters, belittle recreational hunting and promote your business. That is fine.....carry on!

But, you are FOS if the contact with Ralph Reeves has not made you a PILE of money!!!!

The fact that other people do not keep a bunch of useless records to try and self-promote themselves through their hunting experiences is of little consequence.

You should worry more about the LIVE hogs than the dead ones anyway!

Danny,

I keep records because I am required to do so. I have to file reports with the DCNR each year on all the hogs I kill. To include the county they were killed in, the method used, and of course the number killed. As well as for promotion as you said.

I don't worry about dead ones. I just keep up with them.

So, are you licensed through the DCNR?
That is not a stipulation of any of the permits I have seen.
