I've always used a 4 wheeler during hunting season and never had much want or need for a side by side. I'm planning on taking my son hunting this upcoming season so I think one would be a better fit for that. I don't know much about which ones are the best or which ones to stay away from. I'm just wanting some input on what yall have had the best luck out of. I'm interested in gas burners only. No electric ones. Thanks.

We've had real good luck with our Kawasaki Mule. If I had to do it over I'd get that or a Ranger. I do prefer a bench seat over buckets.

Ranger, especially if you're headed to Miss or Ark to chase ducks.

Ranger is a do all machine. If it can handle the rice fields I would be safe putting it anywhere

John Deere Gators have worked very well for our farms. Hunting would probably be a big let down without FWDrive. The Gators have never given us a bit of trouble and one of ours is over 20 years old. We replaced the clutch a few years ago and that is all. That one has over 3,000 hours and still doesn't use any oil. The Gators are hard to beat as an all around vehicle, and I use the Honda Foreman for my hunting vehicle.

Ranger. I've got the 570 mid-size and I love it. There's a reason they sell so many Polaris UTV's

I just looked at the Honda Pioneer 500 at Southern powersports. If I were going to buy one I would really consider it. Shaft drive, paddle shifter on the steering wheel, no belts.

I've hunted with 2 people using both a ATV and a UTV. I love my Ranger for 2 people. Nothing like spraying mud all over your passenger on the back of an ATV, not to mention the rough ride they have with nothing to brace themselves on. Throwing guns, back packs, ect. in the back of the UTV is just so easy.

I don't mind hunting alone on my 4 wheeler but with another rider, the UTV is the way to go.

My 4 wheeler is about to need replacing and I have been eyeballing the Pioneer 500 too. I know folks that have the bigger Hondas and they really like the shaft drive, especially for descending mountains in Jackson County.

I would not take anything for my Rhino for power and getting around tight places. I rarely have another rider that isn't an adult so my bucket seats work ok. To me it sounds like a bench seat would be better- especially if he wants to learn to drive and you need to get to the brakes... so if I was in your place I think I would go with the Ranger.

That 500 is a little smaller rig and gets around the mountains great, little feller will go to. I like that you actually shift the gears.

Polaris has been selling them longer than most other companies so you're likely to hear more positive reviews on them. I have a 2013 Honda UTV that I bought new and it's been great. The truth is, I've ridden and drove many different brands as everyone in our hunting club has one because vehicles are not allowed on our roads. The only one I wouldn't want is a Kubota. You need a good dental policy if you ride in it very often.

Polaris 900xp hunters deluxe. heated seats makes the cold rides a little warmer.

I bought a Polaris Ranger 570 Full size before last season and was pleased with it. I have a full cab which is nice when its muddy or freezing cold. It will not go where my 4 wheeler will go because of its size(width), the mid size might be the way to go. Hauling gear, stands or tools is much easier than the 4 wheeler. With the cab it seems noisy on the inside. Doors and windshield come off easily.

I looked at some rangers today. I was impressed but it was the first UTV I have looked at so I had nothing to compare it to. I'm glad to hear the good feedback on them. I like the Hondas but haven't had a chance to go look at them. And a bench seat will work best for me.
