Inside spread is indeed only air but does add to a score. But I have never had a deer scored. I do believe antler traits vary through out the state and all over for that matter. A wide buck looks good but a heavy rack looks good too. I do think mass tells more about age than spread. I've seen 3yo with 20"+ and 7yo with 12" inside. Any base over 5" says alot as does 20"+ mains. I got a question for you Top Cat, Is that buck you killed this year one of your best ever? I'v seen that wall of fame of yours and its quit impressive.... ... Just curious as to where he ranks compared to some of your other ones, Congrats on the kill...
