Finally bit the bullet and decided to quit/cut back. I got up to a can or more a day. Anyway to point of this little post was that I was honest enough to accept the fact that I couldn't just quit cold turkey and all the sunflower seeds and gum in the world wouldn't help my desire to have a dip in my mouth so I hit the ol internet. I've seen several nicotine free dip commercials and ads so I got on amazon and ordered several different kinds. They all suck!!!! Except for one. It's called teaza. It's literally a pouch sized tea bag. They last forever and I often leave one in for 3-4 hours and tastes just like tea once the flavoring ( there are 4 flavors peppermint, mint, berry, and cinnamon) wear off. If u have been on the fence about cutting back or Quitting order some. Oh yeah and u don't spit, it's tea. Took me a while to quit spitting but I don't have to have a bottle every where u go. Give it a shot fellas.

Quitting is easy.

I've done it 100's of times.

Whatever suits you just tickles me plum to death.

Can I refill your eggnog for you? Get you something to eat? Drive you out to the middle of nowhere and leave you for dead?

Got the flu, or some kind of bad crud in 2003 I think. Couldn't dip for 3 days. Decided to not pick the can back up. Cold turkey. Chewed red man some for years to get me through the tough times. But haven't used that or any smokeless tobacco for a couple years now.

I dipped 2 cans of Copenhagen snuff a day for 26 years , I quit 10 months ago cold turkey with the help of peppermints . I was the guy that could not quit , it can be done and now I hate seeing or smelling it . I also save $50.00 plus a week .

Quit day - September 14, 2011. Dipped Copenhagen and Red Seal for over 20 years, and quit once in the mid 90's for a few years. Knowing my girl would be born in a month really got me thinking, and I went cold turkey.

Ate the hell out of some sour jelly bellies the first few days.

You can do it. My Dad and brother quit about that time as well.

Just think how much more you love your family than you do dipping.

Grinds seems like good stuff it's helped me it's flavored coffee grinds instead of tea. Gives you a pretty good boost too.

Long time buddy of mine dipped/chewed for many years. I watched him go through tongue cancer last year. Radiation caused his throat to swell up. He looked like a bullfrog. Had to have a breathing tube for weeks.
His vocal cords were cooked. He squawked like a duck. Lost 40 lbs because he had to eat through a feeding tube in his stomach. Made for some real enjoyable meals at the dinner table. Radiation made him sick, almost choked to death on his vomit several times cause his throat was swollen shut. He's alright for the time being. Said he'd kill himself before he goes through that again. Has a gun hidden in the barn. I don't blame him a bit.

Good luck hunter. Me and Fur are on the same page. The times i have quit, the longest was 3 weeks. The whole 3 weeks i couldn't get my mind off of it. maybe i'll give this a shot. If Reading stories like roadkill just posted is not motivating then i dont know what is.

1-2 cans a day for 17 years. Quitting was one of the hardest things I've ever done but it is possible. I tried to cut back but it never worked more than a few days. I had to throw several unopened cans away and decide that I would never let anything control me that way again.

I've been quit since February 1st. Every deer season I pick it up and every end I put it down. Have done this for 8 years and have never had a problem quitting. It just takes determination to not go to the store and pick up a can. After 3 days I'm over it.

The smokey mountain stuff that chipper jones endorses is pretty good in my opinion. Even has a little cayenne pepper in it to give you gum line that good burn. The winter green taste like grizzly wg to me
