I'm wanting to buy a high quality flashlight and want to know what you recommend. Budget is $100.00 max. It must be really bright and not so big it feels like I'm carrying a Billy Stick. I see a lot on the internet but I've found you can ripped off pretty quick on the web.

I bought my wife a cheap cree light off of amazon and it is better than my $100+ streamlight. Agree. All of my lights come from EBay now. You can find what you're looking for and much more for a $100 budget. I'm kinda a flashlight snob as well. I have 6 in my nightstand drawer right now. Never know when the batteries are gonna go out on one.
Ya'll are just overthinking it now

I trust my life and others life to Streamlight. It's been exposed to cold, water, heat and blood.

I found a streamlight on the highway and bought a charger for it. It got stolen when my kid had a small party while I was out of town. Replaced it with a no name light from lowe's that uses regular batteries and cost about 30 clams. The cheap light is actually brighter and seems to be just as durable.
Flashlight technology is moving forward so fast right now that most folks won't be able to keep up. I love it.

Cree is actually an LED manufacturing company. Many flashlight companies, from cheap ebay knockoffs, to top brands, use the Cree leds. They all use some type of internal computer chip and circuit board to control brightness, but what separates a quality light from junk, as as anything else, is their ability to shed heat, and the switch. Yeah, the same $10 on/off connector that failed in flashlights 30 years ago is still important. Besides Streamlight and Surefire, Fenix makes a lot of different models in different sizes and brightness levels. Zebralight is another good one, particularly for headlamps. That $9.99 ebay bargain is just as bright as your buddy's Surefire, but when it fails while you are trying to walk out of a duck blind, your will remember you get what you pay for.

I bought my wife a cheap cree light off of amazon and it is better than my $100+ streamlight. Agreed... These flashlights have been amazing: Hausbell CREEI bought quite a few for gifts this year and I have kept two for myself. 2 for $9.99 and free Prime shipping.

I have a streamlight, surefire and a fenix but I use this one more than any of them. http://www.amazon.com/ThorFire-Flashligh...ds=thorfire+c8sIt's simply amazing and I've had goodluck with the rechargeable batteries but it also takes CR123A lithium batteries. Best $30 I ever spent.

Look at a stream light waypoint rechargeable. Brightguy has them for 118 no tax, free shipping. Its made like a miniature spot light. This thing is amazingly bright. I can see the tree line at my brothers which is over 400 yds away
Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!
