Some of yall may use this and some may not. From my experience the deer wear this stuff out better than a trophy rock or anything else ive tried. What you need is 2 50 pound bags of trace mineral, 1 50 pound bag of Di-calcium phosphate, 1 50 pound bag of stock salt, and 1 50 pound bag of dried molasses. Mix them all together in a large container. I pour out a 5 gallon bucket full at each site or more depending on the size of the mineral site. Totals 200 pounds when mixed and cost $67 at the COOP. Try it.

Thats the recipe we use, but we add in Beast Feast or something like that to give it a stronger smell. We mix it in a old cement mixer. The whole system works preety well.

central ala,
2 questions:

1). You mix 250 lbs. of ingredients to get 200 lbs. of product?
2). Why in the classifieds?? grin

Should be able to get it at most any Farmers Co-op or mom and pop feed store.

Will they use this stuff out of a covered feeder (with trough) or does it need to be in the dirt?

Sand is the worse.
Red clay is the best.
Everything else is in between.

Basically, it's goes through the soil like lime. Sand requires liming more often and red clay requires less often. Rain carries it away quicker.

You referring to the trace minerals mixed with rock salt?

central ala,
No doubt what he is saying will work, but I would like to see a side by side comparison of with/without molasses. Just curious if the molasses really adds to the mix or is it the salt?

I add the extra bag of salt because they hit it a whole lot better than without. I also will add the dried molasses to my gravity feeders that have corn in them. I might be mistaken but it seems to me the new dirt bag attrqctaint is pretty much dried molasses. Once the deer find the mineral they will literally start digging a crater getting the molasses out of the ground. One good rain and it seeps in the soil. Add it to corn and they will try to eat the feeder when it runs out lol.

I think he meant rock salt, at least that's what I use with mine. And the rock salt is what gets them there. The high salt content is the most palatable thing to them.

Centralala, I don't use molasses, and the deer hammer it. I use only one bag of trace though
