listen up, the debate here isn't about whether we SHOULD shoot small deer or more/less does. The debate is about giving the state more ammo to tax you and me and the rest of the hunters in this state. The debate is about the state telling you, me and the rest of the hunters in the state HOW we are going to hunt. The debate is about the state telling you, me and the rest of the hunters in this state what THEY consider is the correct way to manage a herd.
Forgive me for being a self thinker who can call a biologist myself to get the information I need to manage MY land. I don't need anybody, including you, telling me what I should and should not be shooting.
I have not killed a 2.5 yr old buck in over 20yrs. In fact the last 3 bucks that I have killed have all been 4.5 yrs old or better and that has been over the last 5-7 yrs.
What I HAVE done is take 2-3 does each year in order to "fill my freezer" and I don't need you or anyone else to tell me how I should or should not have gone about that. In fact I believe I will shoot a fork horn this weekend just because I live in a free (for now) country and the law says that I can.
you honestly think that just because you are a "good" neighbor your land wont be leased out from under you? go and turn that piece of ground you got into a mega buck piece of ground and see how long it takes for the lease price to go up. If they want the land it doesn't matter if its bad neighbors or great ground, money talks and you are gonna lose it.

Who the hell said anything about new taxes? This debate has absolutely nothing to do with taxes new or old.

Just to be clear here, what I am hearing you and many others say is that you feel that there should be ZERO regulation on deer hunting. NO limits on does, or bucks, kill as many as you want, any way you want day or night, anytime of the year. Is that honestly how some of you guys feel? How long do you guys really think the heard would last if that was the case. I don't think you guys are against regulations, you just want the regulations to let you do whatever the hell you want regardless of how it effects the resource or other hunters.

I got news for you, you guys better find a way to start hunting for the pleasure of being in the woods and the opportunity to harvest a trophy buck and maybe a doe or two for the freezer and stop hunting for the pure pleasure of killing everything you see because the people with influence are hunting with those goals in mind and they will eventually, either by pricing you out or influence the laws to penalize you heavily for your irresponsibility and if I had to guess both will be coming. I have neither money or influence but I completely agree with the hunting goals of those that do.
