i think we should be able to hunt deer at night out of a treestand. and natural light only, no n.v. or thermal. There's nothing dangerous about, Just walk in and out with a light, hell there's less hunters at night anyway

Sorry, ChrisAU, you're in violation. You're banned from hunting for a year.
Be sure during the 2017-18 season, if you're still hunting, to shoot a mature buck that weighs at least 165 pounds. That tiny critter in your photo really could have been something big enough to kill in another year or two.

Hey, just make sure your bucks weigh 165 pounds.
This deer was 158 lbs. ![[Linked Image]](http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd514/pensich/C788880B-DE04-4A6B-88A8-AFD849F4DE89_zpsmvgcfoxv.jpg) Exception to the rule if it truly did weigh 158! I find that weight VERY hard to believe.

"I find that weight VERY hard to believe." That will be the standard excuse/line used in your new state management plan too.

Game Warden: "This buck is only 3.5 years old, based on this tooth analysis."
Hunter: "I find that VERY hard to believe."
Game Warden: "Well, OK. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt THIS time. Don't shoot any sub-mature bucks again, though. Remember, 165 pounds and mature. Got it?"
Hunter: "Yes'sir, occifer Dan!"

Some of you guys are exactly the type of people that are causing all the calls for new regulations. It is your "kill anything" actions that result in regulations that you seem to hate so much. If you guys keep it up the rich "trophy hunters" are going to price you guys out of the game. Decent hunting land in this state is already going for $15 - $20 an acre on lease in some places and the lack of good neighbors is driving that price up every year. Many of these rich "trophy Hunters", when faced with shitty neighbors just buy out the lease of those neighbors and then that just serves to drive up the "going rate" the land owners can get away with charging. Meanwhile, you guys have the nerve to sit around and complain about how the rich guys are screwing it up, when at the end of the day it was your own irresponsible behavior that caused the whole problem in the first place.
Most of the decent clubs in this state have annual dues of $2000 - $5000. So if a guy pays those dues, buys guns, ammo, stands, apparel, game cameras and optics he's got thousands invested in a hunting season. Then add in the time he spends scouting and working to improve his land and the investment is huge. If he even get the impression that some guy next door is screwing up his opportunity to have a successful season, he and his fellow members are going spend whatever it takes to do away with that neighbor. And before you know it the only land left for the average guy is some crap hole land where you are lucky to see 5 or 6 deer a year. I personally blame all this on the guys who just can't seem to act right no matter what. Remember, there would be no need for the rich guys to push their politician friends for new regulations if they had no reason to think there was a problem.

"RICH" people are what's wrong with this world and government in general today. Most think they can sit behind a desk or at their country club and never socialize or have interaction with normal down to earth people and fix the world. I have always said a rich mans poor and a poor mans poor are two different things. More taxes on anything just makes the normal everyday "JOE" hate the government more. No politician is driven by a love for the people he is driven by whoever can fatten his pockets so that he can push their "LAW'S"

So, because you pay thousands for a club lease and goodies and hunting stuff, then everyone else who does not should capitulate to your way of thinking?
Because that's exactly what you're saying. And it's wrong. And you're wrong. And you will not win this battle of Trophy Money vs. Joe Average Hunter.

Who said we were shooting young deer or "killing anything"? listen up, the debate here isn't about whether we SHOULD shoot small deer or more/less does. The debate is about giving the state more ammo to tax you and me and the rest of the hunters in this state. The debate is about the state telling you, me and the rest of the hunters in the state HOW we are going to hunt. The debate is about the state telling you, me and the rest of the hunters in this state what THEY consider is the correct way to manage a herd. Forgive me for being a self thinker who can call a biologist myself to get the information I need to manage MY land. I don't need anybody, including you, telling me what I should and should not be shooting. I have not killed a 2.5 yr old buck in over 20yrs. In fact the last 3 bucks that I have killed have all been 4.5 yrs old or better and that has been over the last 5-7 yrs. What I HAVE done is take 2-3 does each year in order to "fill my freezer" and I don't need you or anyone else to tell me how I should or should not have gone about that. In fact I believe I will shoot a fork horn this weekend just because I live in a free (for now) country and the law says that I can. you honestly think that just because you are a "good" neighbor your land wont be leased out from under you? go and turn that piece of ground you got into a mega buck piece of ground and see how long it takes for the lease price to go up. If they want the land it doesn't matter if its bad neighbors or great ground, money talks and you are gonna lose it.

If they want the land it doesn't matter if its bad neighbors or great ground, money talks and you are gonna lose it. Who the hell said anything about new taxes? This debate has absolutely nothing to do with taxes new or old. Just to be clear here, what I am hearing you and many others say is that you feel that there should be ZERO regulation on deer hunting. NO limits on does, or bucks, kill as many as you want, any way you want day or night, anytime of the year. Is that honestly how some of you guys feel? How long do you guys really think the heard would last if that was the case. I don't think you guys are against regulations, you just want the regulations to let you do whatever the hell you want regardless of how it effects the resource or other hunters. I got news for you, you guys better find a way to start hunting for the pleasure of being in the woods and the opportunity to harvest a trophy buck and maybe a doe or two for the freezer and stop hunting for the pure pleasure of killing everything you see because the people with influence are hunting with those goals in mind and they will eventually, either by pricing you out or influence the laws to penalize you heavily for your irresponsibility and if I had to guess both will be coming. I have neither money or influence but I completely agree with the hunting goals of those that do.

"Harvest a trophy buck" ... "a doe or two for the freezer."
That's your goal. It ain't everyone's goal. And it doesn't have to be. And as long as people like you try to dictate to everyone else, you'll fail. You will. Because you have a trophy mentality, not a true management mentality.
And, hunters kill things. They don't "harvest" them. People harvest fruit and vegetables. Hunters kill animals.
