Thanks to SkiTar's new two-prong regulation, we can hunt at night with lights with corn anytime of the year.

If it were up to me there would only be two deer hunting regulations:
1. Every licensed hunter gets one doe tag (something for the freezer) 2. 3 buck limit with No bucks under 165 lbs. - anyone caught harvesting a buck between 150 - 165 lbs. would face a small fine and anyone caught harvesting a buck less than 150 lbs would face a large fine and would loose their license for a year. Anyone caught transporting a deer without a state issued one time use tag would loose their license for life and face up to a year in jail.
I'm not for any new taxes or check in stations, just 2 reasonable regulations with harsh penalties. My regulations would be aimed at doing away with the blood thirsty KILLERS and protecting the resources for the HUNTERS. That's funny! What the heck would not killing deer under 165lbs accomplish?? Nothing but a few older bucks and a lot of young hunters losing interest. Adults too I guess. A buck is a buck to some hunters. There's a state limit and that should be enforced, not a bunch of added on rules for certain folk.

Yelk and Ski, y'all need to put down the crack pipes. If you think a tag to generate more revenue would actually be used for wildlife, you are more fracked up than a football bat.
BP oil spill money, enough said....State politicians - look at all of this money. Let's rebuild the state mansion at the gulf or build a bridge in Florence. Local residents - think she might want to save for possible damage found 5 years down the road????
49'r would have worn out his copy/paste button by now if he were here.. I never said anything about additional money collected by the state for tags. The license fee could be raised by a couple of dollars, just enough to cover the production costs of the tags. I'm certainly not suggesting that tags should be a new revenue source for the state. My only interest in the tags is to make it SIGNIFICANTLY more difficult for OUTLAW, CRIMINAL, POACHERS to exceed the limit. I know that my suggestions of regulations doesn't sit well with the "if its brown, its down" blood thirsty meat killers out there but how else do we stop the madness going on right now in this state. An overwhelming majority of hunters, in this state (not on this site) are responsible hunters who are only interested harvesting MATURE bucks and maybe one or two does for the freezer.

Where did that data come from? I think the majority of hunters would like a better hunting experience altogether without a bunch of regulations. That's pretty simple to accomplish. Limit doe harvest and tag each deer you kill. Get rid of the rest of the jargon. Some people overthink simple problems.
Ya'll are just overthinking it now

OK so you got me, I wouldn't be in favor of changing the season very much and I wouldn't be for hunting at night simply because its unsafe. But other than that I wouldn't really give a crap how you killed them. Over a pile of corn, standing under a feeder or hell you could shoot them with their damn head in a feeding trough for all I care but once you have killed a doe and three MATURE bucks you are done. My only goal is to limit the quantity taken by some of the friggin meat killers and raise the quality taken by everyone. The all out slaughter of does and young immature bucks has got to slow down if there is going to be any hope of improving the quality of hunting in this state for everyone. Also the reason I would suggest a weight system for bucks is because maturity level is not necessarily the same thing a rack size. Not all mature bucks have a great rack and not all small bucks have a small rack. But there is no way of knowing if a buck is ever going to be great if you shoot his ass when he is a 2.5 year old, 140 lb. 4 point. Why is it too much to ask that everyone wait until a buck is at the very least 3.5 - 4.5 to shoot him? Most of the HUNTERS I know would let a 150 lb basket rack 8 point walk if they thought it stood a good chance to make it to next year but more often than not those deer get shot because the HUNTERS know that if they let it walk it is likely that some dipshit next door will shoot it.

Poachers gonna poach... If not for meat, it's just for the hell of it and a set of horns. I've spent 18 years living and hunting in states with a tag system and they do nothing to prevent poaching. The key to poaching in my opinion, is get the guys that are career poachers and make a serious example out of them with jail time and fines. There's a known poacher here and he still poaches. Bull elk with a gun in friggin archery season. Hope I see him do it, $500 when I turn him in. I already know one guy that made $500 off his sorry ass. He should be in jail.

but once you have killed a doe and three MATURE bucks you are done. Glad you're not in charge and never will be in charge and what you're wanting will never be something the state or majority of hunters do.
