That is stretching it and is a senseless comment. They have responded to the squeaky wheels and is in a yoyo fashion. Too many does, not enough does. Too many bucks are being killed to nobody is seeing any bucks, to reduce the number of bucks that nobody kills. My god "hunters" (and I use that term loosely) are fickle, but by gumby bring on more rules and regulations because we like all them rules and regulations because every other State does it so its right, right????

Yes, I am a lifetime holder and did not receive an email and to my knowledge they do not have my email address. Purchased my Lifetime before Al Gore invented the internet!

You care about a stinkin' wood goat that much that you spy on your neighbors via the state's mandated reporting website to see if they're reporting deer to the DNR?

in his post he plainly says it can be used to police others ! But then he says he isnt worried about what they kill as long as its legal ! SMH

I tell you what buddy you float your boat and I float mine. Y'all internet bad asses aren't going to jump on me for sharing my personal opinion. That's what it is and nothing more. If you don't agree I can give two shits what you anyone else think. You guys are a lot of what is wrong with the damn place these days! Always got to jump on someone because you don't agree with their personal opinion. SMH
im not trying to be a BA . I have an opinion that you think is wrong and you have an opinion that I think is wrong . Nothing to get livid about . In simple form i dont think more government rules will help us at all.

Government rules is what has gotten the deer herd at the lowest level in my lifetime so it is only right that the government make another rule to get it going in the right direction.....doe days or limited harvest in my area.

I've had a lifetime license for a very long time, and I have never received any kind of survey or email from Alabama? I get emails every week from Oklahoma where I hunt with a non-residence license??

I would love a mandatory check, physically verify the kill deal, but it would probably cost a fortune, and be hard to keep Joe Dirt from shooting deer and never checking them in.

Maybe this is a bad idea, but couldn't the state do a large scale camera survey with landowners willing to help, and get some data on how bad it really is in some counties. They could use students from state colleges to help with the survey.

If there were a resident wildlife biologists on here like there use to be then we would know.

There's actually more than one of them but they don't want to get involved in the petty bickering and name calling. "Your a dumbass, no your a dumbass". Sounds like a kindergarten room.

i already ask them

simple fact is counting dead deer does no good if you don't know how many lives ones are there . just BS!!!!!

Harvest trends will let you know whether something is going right or wrong....also with your logic all deer management techniques such as recording deer killed, their weights, aging by jawbones and ect should just be stopped since they are a waste of time since nobody anywhere knows exactly how many free ranging deer there are.....

Yeah this thread is a good example on why some have left and others keep their opinions to themselves.....it amazes me sometimes the name calling that grown men do on the internet when in real life I hardly ever hear people doing the same in person.....

Monitoring the resource......it would a tool not the end all but another tool to help monitor the resource.

If harvest numbers kept going down or drastically dropped off that could indicate a problem or visa versa...

key word in that is "something" . there could be a lot of somethings that causes kill rates to go up or down . so you still back to guessing how to set limits after watching trends for ten years .

but they (state) are not "recording their weights, aging by jawbones and ect

Frankie, I don't think your and IDOT or anything at all, I wast just referring to your comment on how having a count of deer, gender, maturity etc. could not help at all. I feel that it can def. help for future conservation tatics in specific zones of the state. I like to think we all, as hunters, play an important role in conservation.
