Kentucky's check-in system puts the hunter's name on a public record easily obtainable, as you noted. Easy to obtain by anti-hunting groups for harassment purposes. Also, some folks don't want their name or info made public and NOT because they're lawbreakers. There are many folks who just don't want their info put out there.

From what ive been told, mandatory check-in will begin next year. So this already has been decided by DCNR officials for the 2016-17 season? Nice. The survey must be just for a dog-and-pony show.

My feelings are hurt. I didn't get the survey. Maybe because they noted that my email address has been checked ng in deer voluntarily and they know my stance. I don't think a check station will happen but phone/internet check in shouldn't be a problem for anyone. Remember, these deer aren't yours, the sates, or any ones. They are God's and we are to be good stewards of the land. This is true but it's the states responsibility to protect the God given resources from the Jimmies and the Joe's that aren't good stewards of the land to protect those of us who are. If that makes any sense and this is when all the trouble starts and started. We have to follow more laws and regulations because of the ones that don't.

EHH I understand what you are saying. However, it will give our GW another tool to help reduce the poaching. I simply like the tool Kentucky offers. I can simply look up people that I know that have killed a deer in the area I hunt. If they have reported the deer their info will show up in the system. Helps hunters police others and also helps mister green jeans as well. A lot of people like to show off their kills these days with all the social media and such. It's pretty easy to get caught if you are being stupid in states with a tagging system. As I said the fine and punishment needs to have teeth. KY system link for checking who is reporting and not. https://app.fw.ky.gov/telecheckreview/ I have two issues with your post . 1. I think you are more worried about "policing others" than anything. 2. Ok we have to go to a tag system bc of the outlaws killing deer . Outlaws will be outlaws . I have seen this in the business i am in .

Clem I understand your view and opinion. I don't agree with it but that's my choice. If someone wants to know about a person this day and time there's little you I can do about it. I've hunted KY for over 8 years and never have I had someone contact me based off the information the state of KY provides them. However, I have used this tool to police my neighbors on their reporting and I hope they have done the same in regards to us. Trust me it keeps a lot of folks honest on their harvest reporting in that state.

If they are poachers their actions effect the management of my hunting property. I don't care what they kill as long as it's within the law. As I also said it gives the limited GW another tool to police poachers. 2. Yes sir poachers are going to be poachers I fully agree. However, if there are tools provided and stiffer fines associated there will be a reduction of said poachers or they will be a lot worse off money wise.

However, I have used this tool to police my neighbors on their reporting and I hope they have done the same in regards to us. You care about a stinkin' wood goat that much that you spy on your neighbors via the state's mandated reporting website to see if they're reporting deer to the DNR?

I have this old friend that hunts a lot..Great guy and president of his hunting club..He goes on one trip a year to the Midwest on a deer hunt..He is all for the tagging system and buying over the counter doe tags and such.Thing is he has not even filled out his license tag for the 3 bucks he has killed here..What he really wants is everyone else to have, and follow rules while he does whatever he wants..That said he has passed more racked bucks than most on here have seen.He just wants rules for everyone but him.
