Obama used his same sayings of "we need expanded background checks", which every state currently has in place at any FFL gun dealer. If a dealer were to sell a firearm without calling in a background check then they would be committing a felony. But Obama continues to try convince the American people that buying a gun is of the same difficulty of buying a pack of gum which is extremely false.

But he out and out lied saying that any felon can purchase a firearm online without any sort of background check, which if you have ever bought a gun from sites like Gunbroker then you know that it will be shipped to an FFL who will call it in to the criminal database when you come to pick it up and you will pay that FFL a fee. This is a major source of income at these places of business. Obama is most likely referencing a site called Armslist which connects people for the local and private sale of firearms which therefore would not be an online purchase but a private sale. But in doing so he is attempting to convince the majority of Americans who are uneducated on firearms that criminals can purchase a firearm online and have it shipped to their house and ready to go murder with no background check required which is just false.

Obama is attacking the private sale of guns by using this "fear-mongering" that he accuses the GOP of doing.

But the free private sale of legal products can not be regulated as stated in the Constitution so he's going to have a hard time getting around that. But of course the Constitution is just a piece of paper to him.
