Lot of deer get lost like that I'm sure. I found a dead 6 point this PM.

Bled the entire way. He crossed a highway and I put the fatal shot on him about 200 yards from the edge of the highway, so we drug him right out of there. 100 yards uphill, 100 yards back down.

Congrats Matt on a fine buck. Congrats Mike and Lucy on yet another great track!

Out of curiosity and maybe could aid others in future tracking jobs, would you be willing to use an aerial photo or even just draw it out on paper (for privacy reasons vs the aerial photo) the near exact path of travel the deer took from bullet impact to retrieval? I think that would be pretty neat to see given the distance the deer traveled.

Congrats again! thumbup

Admire the effort that went into retrieving that deer Matt. Just wish all wounded deer got the same effort. Great job Mike and Lucy!

This deer would never have been recovered without the dog. Absolutely no doubt. He went to the highway twice before crossing it in a different place than he originally tried. I don't know how he went like he did. His left hip bone was shattered, and his body cavity was full of blood.

Good deal

crazy "Hey everybody, here's my hunting spot where I kill big mature bucks because I let the little ones walk..." Said no hunter ever (ESPECIALLY Matt Brock).

Since Matt's response will most likely be like above, I took the liberty of drawing the recovery map on Matt's behalf! grin

I absolutely admire your enthusiasm to learn, but "no". I am not posting a location.

So does a 3.2 mile track involve crossing any property lines, if so, due to recent trespassers threads how do you handle those situations.

Not trying to start a pissing match, be an arse, not trying to find out any locations just wondering?

Congrats on a fine looking buck

At any point in time did you use your position with the dcnr as leverage to gain access or did you simply introduce yourself as Matt Brock? I've noticed most neighbors aren't as polite

I only mentioned my position to Mike Lopez. One of the landowners I know personally. The others I just introduced myself and they had no issues with it. I've never used my position to gain anything. You'd be amazed how many ppl invite me hunting, and I usially pass. I'm not going down that road.
