Are you talking about the peep sight over the bead at the end of the barrel? If so the first thing I do is take them off I can see alot better without it.

No the peep sight up where a scope would be mounted. Something like the rear sight on an M16.

Just make sure to get one with a big enough inside diameter. You don't want one of the really small ones. Hard to see what your are shooting at on a deer

Might as well get a scope and be done with it IMO. Normally, I'd agree. I don't like the way a lever gun handles with a scope. Not to mention, it just looks weird, John Wayne never had a scope on his Winnie!!
